:: Back

And so I'm back, its been more than a week, couple of training days, 3 different flights, 2 bed and breakfasts, a couple of hundred shots (photo's), 2 new scars and first time trying 4 new Asian fruits that I've failed to recall the names of. its been a while since I have last posted, and seems much longer since I've last sat down and wrote, Dubai and Qatar were great, for years I've lived abroad yet Dubai didn’t fail to amaze me, maybe I've been in Amman for too long, everything seems to shine brightly there, I felt like that scene from David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. where the blond gets to Hollywood and rides the taxi, I still feel neck-pain from looking at tops of buildings, I didn’t take as many photos as I would have liked to.

It is a lacking culture city, but their streets, their humid April air, their infrastructure, their millions, their billions, their India, their Logos and their whole corporate world makes it alright for me. Not to say how it felt to look at my right and seeing the logo of Reuters on a huge building. As productive as I've used to feel, I don’t at the moment, seems so much more is going on outside this petite Amman; it was a soft yet irritating slap in the face, but it happens every time I travel. here I am now, on the 4th floor of the 7 story building I live in, on the edge of my bed writing, trying to figure out weather someone just got shot outside or someone scored a goal, its summer time now, kids out playing in the garages of our neighboring buildings, seems the happier they are the louder they scream, the calls for isha prayers are almost at nine and I've just began sleeping with the window wide open, not to mention it was bright when I left the office today.

I spent 2 nights at the Le Meridian, one night in Sheraton and three nights in Qatar at a friend's house, which felt like a dorm-roommate experience. Meridian was amazing, they had 3 kiwis in a plate next to the bed, as well as one patchi chocolate piece though it was a room with queen sized bed, God bless a king with a queen that is satisfied with one piece of chocolate. There should have been two! But room service managed to cheer me up the next day, every time I find the room tided up and shampoos replaced I smile, they’ve managed to find the remote I lost again.

While I am back at work today, 79 new emails on my outlook; people have no problem with adding another person on their CC list it seems. I've spent the better half of today smoking but I managed to get away without a headache. At work I took out my lighter and lit the end of a pin waiting for it turn red but it turned black instead and got too hot to hold, I placed an evil smile and pushed it into a blister located on my left hand, which splashed liquid into my right eye and made it turn red, it itched for a good 30 minutes, I got the blisters from gardening and planting over bright pink flowers in the driest soil of my grandmother's backyard, after that I headed out with a cousin of mine to Popeye's, the new 6th circle branch. I lectured the manager there for his lack of professionalism, the unnecessary loud music playing and the 20 piaster they charged for a small mayonnaise-garlic sauce, I also wanted to lecture a 30 year old man the kept on blowing smoke ignorantly at his daughters baby blue carriage while he shared a smile with his wife.

I'm considering watching a movie now, I got Hostel, a Quentin Tarantino movie, but the man at the video store warned me "bas mush ma3 il a7el, kolo sex ou feeyo manather mou2zeyeh." I might just finish off the book that the RJ flights' constant crying baby didn’t allow me to. I've decided to stop buying business books and download audio version of them, I have the space for on my desk and some how that reassuring voice of the business book reader inspires me and makes me think making millions is easier than I already believe. My external 200G hard drive almost died out on me today, so I went to Acme-wear and replaced a board with a cable, I tried getting him to explain to me what the difference was, he said "khalas khod mini" and so I did.

By the way....No matter how fancy Dubai look and other brand new countries are...Amman has a special warm atmosphere other's do not know it....at least it has a culture as you've mentioned earlier.

Hey Sabri, 7amdilla 3al salame. I live here in Sharjah, and being only 20Kms far from Dubai, i hear what u say. Dubai does appeal to any stranger but when u get to live here things start to change, YET still Dubai is a well established modern city.

Anyway, i'm interested in photography too and i would like to see some shots u took here in Dubai. Please check my site if u want to see some of mine too :)
